Even though I’ve been spending less and less time on TikTok, I’m seeing a discourse happening around bisexual men, and cisgender straight women not wanting to date them. MANY of the responses were claiming that bisexual men were trying to coerce straight women into dating them.
The responses reminded me of the reaction that many cisgender lesbians had to the “cotton ceiling” debate. It even made it onto the BBC, that trans women were forcing lesbians to date them.
In reality, the whole conversation revolved around bias, and asking people to examine their bias. That if a woman being trans was the only reason that you wouldn’t date her, that it was transphobic.
It would seem that cisgender women seem to have a hard time examining their biases. #transgender
